The decline in Christian music is a problem. The problem actually begins with the churches that the listeners attend. What do I mean by this, you may ask? Well, a good number of churches in America preach a self-centered gospel with no substance. In return, this produces not only false converts who are headed to hell but also creates a problem that affects the families who are trying to build Christ-centered homes based on the true gospel of the Bible. Many will not see this because most are in it for the feelings or experiences, but those trying to remain faithful to biblical teachings will understand. Songs like "Reckless Love" are catchy but promote a theological mess in the lyrics. Why does this matter? Because lyrics matter. Anything labeled Christian should matter. It should be held to a standard that represents Christ in the right way.
Hillsong, Bethel, Jesus Culture, and Elevation have taken over the Christian charts. While it may appear to be Christian, it is not theologically correct. Not only are adults "jamming" to it, but the youth are loving it. When you love a song, most of the time you look up the artist. After learning the artist's name, the connections to the churches grow from there. That's a big issue! The churches tied to these singing groups teach false doctrines, false gospels, and Bethel is heresy at best. When the wolves are introduced through the music, the jaws can clamp down on a newer convert or child, and they can be swayed to follow a path that is not true to scripture. Scripture is God's word.
